Introduction

ACPWA’s Vegetation Management program plays an integral role in ensuring fire safety as well as the mitigation of vegetation based obstructions along county roadways and flood control facilities. Brush removal along county roadways ensures proper sight distance for driver safety, while removal of vegetation from our flood control facilities ensures their proper function, minimizing the potential for flooding.

The Agency deploys various methods of vegetation management with a focus on sustainability and environmental sensitivity.

Goat grazing is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to controlled burns, mechanical cutting, and chemical herbicides to manage local vegetation in and around the County’s flood control channels.
Use of mechanical equipment is a common method of controlling vegetation along County roadways and flood control channel. This includes but not limited to: mowing, cutting, grubbing, hand-pulling, and tilling.
