Status of Unincorporated Alameda County Roads (6/09/2017 9:00 a.m.)

Redwood Road, Castro Valley, is CLOSED to all traffic at marker 7.38 until further notice due to roadway failure.   This closure blocks all access between Castro Valley and Oakland.  Guests accessing the East Bay Regional Park District’s Anthony Chabot campground facilities need to enter from the Oakland side of Redwood Road.

Palomares Road, Castro Valley, is CLOSED to all traffic, between Palo Verde Road, Castro Valley, and Niles Canyon Road, Fremont.  The road is impassable at mile marker 8.7 while contractors remove hazards including loose dirt, rocks and debris from the hillside.  Once the debris has been removed, contractors will install safety measures to stabilize the hillside to prevent further movement.

Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

Koopman Road, Sunol, is reduced to one lane of traffic at mile marker 0.23 following a mudslide.  Safety devices are in place.  Proceed with caution.

Crews have begun repairing the embankment on Foothill Road, mile marker 6.87.  Work hours will be Monday through Saturday 7:00 am – 5:30 pm.  These repairs are expected to be complete by September 30, 2017.   Roadway access will maintained through the work zone in the southbound lane, with one-way traffic controlled by an automated signal system.  Traffic may also be controlled by a flagger during certain work operations.  Motorists should expect delays.

All other roadways in unincorporated Alameda County remain open at this time.
