The Public Works Agency operates 24 pump stations throughout Alameda County. These Pump Stations re located in the western part or low –laying flood plain areas of the County. Two of these sites protect a roadway underpass in San Lorenzo and the other on Pleasanton-Sunol Road.
These pump stations operate all year round to direct the collected storm water, ground water, irrigation drainage, and transient street runoff and transfer that water to flood control bays and channels. A Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA), in operation since 2006, remotely operates and monitors the pump stations.
Pump Station staff also perform preventive maintenance, electrical and mechanical repairs year-round to ensure maximum flood protection.
