Community Beautification

Programs & Services

Introduction

ACPWA ensures the cleanliness and aesthetics of county unincorporated areas by way of graffiti abatement, street sweeping, shopping cart removal, landscape maintenance, tree planting and supporting community events that are geared towards beautification. The Agency supports volunteer programs, including Adopt-A-Spot/Adopt-a-Creek, and supports community members who participate in organized clean-up events. The Program is designed to enable communities to play an active role in the aesthetics and cleanliness of neighborhoods in which they live.

Graffiti Removal

The Public Works Agency, in collaboration with the Community Development Agency, addresses graffiti abatement on both public and private properties. Please Report graffiti using Mobile Citizen.

Street Sweeping

Streets within the posted areas of Ashland, Cherryland and San Lorenzo are swept according to the posted schedules. Except for the commercial areas within unincorporated Alameda County which are swept weekly, the streets in unposted areas are generally swept every 4 to 6 weeks.

To find the dates and times for street sweeping in your area, please check posted street signs and view our schedule on the digital maps posted here. You can also learn more about our street sweeping program by reviewing this flyer.

Adopt-A-Spot/Creek

The Public Works Agency encourages individuals or groups to participate in the Adopt-A-Spot/Creek Program to help clean and beautify roadways, creeks, and other areas maintained by the County where it is safe to do so.  The Public Works Agency will provide basic supplies such as litter picks, bags, vests, gloves, etc., and will remove and dispose of trash collected under the program.

Joining the Adopt-A-Spot program is easy. If you're interested in volunteering with us, simply complete and submit the application form below.

Landscape Maintenance

ACPWA’s Landscape Maintenance Program ensures that beautification investments are sustained through effective landscaped maintenance of median island, county-owned sidewalk planting beds, and selected street trees.
