Sidewalk Repair

Programs & Services

Sidewalk Safety

The Alameda County Public Works Agency administers a Sidewalk Repair Program through which the County assists single-family residential property owners with the repair of tripping hazards located along their property frontage.  To determine if your property is eligible for the program you can contact (510) 670-5249 or send a request though the County’s info request link at acpwasrp@acpwa.org

If you are eligible to participate in the program, the County will reimburse the property owner 50%, up to a maximum amount of $750, to correct the existing tripping hazard either by removal and replacement or slicing of the existing concrete.

Property Owner's Responsibility

It is the adjacent property owners responsibility for maintenance of the sidewalk abutting their property per the California Streets and Highways Code, Section 5610. When a tripping hazard is reported, the County will notify the property owner of the sidewalk issue and if appropriate request repair.

To report a tripping hazard on a sidewalk within the unincorporated area of Alameda County, please submit a service request using our online portal.
