About Watershed Planning

The Alameda County Public Works Agency (ACPWA) works closely with the Alameda County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (ACFCD) on projects like watershed planning and drainage studies as well as capital improvements related to the watershed. The ACFCD website has a helpful interactive map that shows all of the different watersheds in Alameda County, and provides insights into each of these water systems.

The ACFCD works with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to map floodplains for the cities and unincorporated areas of Alameda County and coordinates this activity with the local jurisdictions. It also uses rainfall and stream-flow data to update and calibrate stream-flow models and rainfall intensity statistics.
