Sidewalk Improvement Project from Castro Valley Blvd. to Miramar Avenue

Significant sidewalk improvements will be made on Stanton Avenue from Castro Valley Boulevard to Miramar Avenue, which serves Stanton Elementary school and the Eden Medical Center. It is envisioned that this Safe Routes to Schools project will improve connectivity for roadway users and improve Storm Water Quality.

Project Status

 Construction on the Stanton Avenue Project is scheduled to start this Fall.

PROJECT FEATURES

The Stanton Avenue project will close gaps in sidewalks. A new concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk will be constructed on Stanton Avenue where none exist. Existing curb, gutter, sidewalk, driveways, walkway and driveway conforms will be replaced.

• Bulb-outs at intersections where necessary

• Storm water treatment areas and drop inlets

• Rain gardens (bio-retention areas)

• Pedestrian ramps

• School cross walks

• Curb Extension (bulb-outs)

• Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacons/Signs at Crosswalk

• Bike lane with striped buffer

• Four Bus Stops

• Street trees
