Project Overview

The Stanton Avenue project is a Safe Routes to Schools project that started in May 2020 and has resulted in significant sidewalk improvements from Castro Valley Boulevard to Miramar Avenue. Stanton Avenue serves Stanton Elementary school and the Eden Medical Center. It is envisioned that this project will improve connectivity for roadway users and improve storm water quality.

• Bulb-outs at intersections
• Storm water treatment areas and drop inlets
• Rain gardens (bio-retention areas)
• Pedestrian ramps
• School crosswalks
• Rapid rectangular flashing beacons/signs at crosswalk
