Programs & Services

The Alameda County Public Works Agency administers the Well Program that permits and inspects well and borehole drilling activities within the following jurisdictions: Cities of Alameda, Emeryville, Piedmont, Albany, Hayward, San Leandro, Oakland, and the western unincorporated communities of Alameda Country. Well Permits are required for all work pertaining to wells and bore-holes at any depth. You can apply online for your permit through the Alameda County website. Please submit 10 work days prior to the start of drilling.

Please note:  When your well is completed, please submit a Well Completion Report. There are two separate forms, one for agencies, and one for individuals.
