Heyer Avenue Sidewalk Improvement

Project Overview

The Heyer Avenue Sidewalk Improvement Project is located from Redwood Road to Center Street. The project is approximately three-quarters of a mile long and has some existing concrete sidewalks with frequent gaps in at numerous locations. It is currently a Class III bike route.

The project will construct continuous concrete curbs, gutters, and sidewalks to enhance pedestrian and bicycle safety and improve access to Castro Valley High School, Creekside Middle School, and Canyon Middle School.

The project supports Alameda County’s Vision 2036 for Safe and Livable Communities and advances the County’s 10X goal of Accessible & Integrated Infrastructure.

Community Outreach

The Heyer Avenue Sidewalk Project will be featured at the ACPWA Transportation Improvements Project Open House on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. 

Community members are invited to stop by anytime during the event to learn more about the project, provide feedback on the proposed improvements, and speak directly with County staff.
