Alameda County Public Works offers an automated inspection request line available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Inspection Request Line
Use this phone system to:
- Schedule inspections
- Cancel inspections
- Get inspection results
- Check permit/application status
Inspections may also be scheduled through the online permit portal.
Inspection requests must be submitted before 12:00 a.m. on the day of the requested inspection.
Before You Call
Please have the following ready:

For permit numbers beginning with BLD, enter only the 9 digits after “BLD” and omit the dash.
Important Reminder
Enter every inspection type needed for your project. If all required inspection types are not entered, the inspector may not have enough time scheduled to complete them all.
Schedule an Inspection
When prompted:
- Enter your permit number
- Enter the inspection type code
- Enter the inspection date using 6 digits
(such as 010222 for January 2, 2022) - Select a morning or afternoon preference
- Enter your phone number
Morning or afternoon requests are not guaranteed, but inspectors will try to accommodate them when possible.
Check Inspection Arrival Time
Call (510) 670-5440 after 8:40 a.m.
on the day of inspection for an estimated arrival time.

Cancel an Inspection
When prompted:
- Enter your permit number
- Enter the inspection date
- Enter the inspection type code
Get Inspection Results
When prompted:
- Enter your permit number
- Enter the inspection date using 4 digits
(such as 0102 for January 2) - Enter the inspection type code
