Grove Way Improvement Project

Project Overview

The Grove Way Improvement Project is located along Grove Way in Castro Valley from Oak Street (Hayward city limit) to Tanglewood Drive.

The project will replace sidewalks, add bicycle facilities, rehabilitate the roadway pavement, and enhance accessibility throughout the corridor. These improvements will improve safety and connectivity for people walking, bicycling, and driving while addressing aging infrastructure, roadway drainage, and ADA accessibility. The project has been designed to balance these improvements with neighborhood parking needs and existing utility constraints.

The project supports Alameda County’s Vision 2036 for Safe and Livable Communities and advances the County’s 10X goal of Accessible & Integrated Infrastructure.

New concrete sidewalks, driveways, curbs & gutters

Class II climbing bike facilities

ADA-compliant curb ramps

High-visibility crosswalks

Stormwater drainage improvements

Pavement rehabilitation

Landscaping and bioretention improvements

Community Outreach

The Grove Way Improvement Project will be featured at the ACPWA Transportation Improvement Projects Open House on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Community members are invited to stop by anytime during the event to learn more about the project, provide feedback on the proposed improvements, and speak directly with County staff.
