Alameda Creek Sediment Removal at BART Weir Fish Ladder and Resting Pool

Project Overview

After the severe storm events in December 2022 and January 2023, a biological condition assessment identified that sediment accumulation in the Alameda Creek Fish Ladder and downstream resting pool has substantially reduced the capacity of the structures and is impeding fish migration to upstream habitats.

The purpose of this project is to remove the accumulated sediment and restore the capacity of the fish ladder and resting pool, thereby ensuring continued safe upstream and downstream migration for fish species.

To safely construct the proposed improvements, the trail along the top of north Alameda Creek levee maintenance access road between Isherwood Way and I Street will be closed to public access during construction hours. Trail access along this segment may be available during non-construction hours, as well as on Sundays and holidays.  The trail along the top of south Alameda Creek levee maintenance access road will remain open at all times and not be affected by construction activities.

The County would like to thank you in advance for your understanding and patience during construction of this vital improvement project.
